This end-terrace cottage built circa 1858 was built on the site of a former Government Cement factory and the square of cottages were known as Angel Gate Cottages. The buildings were originally used as a base for coastguards and, more recently and until 1972, were used as army married quarters. The Cottages passed into council ownership and now provide residential accommodation. Angel Gate is well placed for the Pier, beach and other local attractions such as the Electric Palace, pubs and restaurants. Harwich also has a railway station connecting to London (Liverpool Street).
