This end terrace cottage, built circa 1858, was constructed on the site of a former government cement factory and the square of cottages were known as Angel Gate Cottages. The buildings were originally used as a base for Coastguards and more recently (until 1972) were utilised as Army married quarters. Cottages then passed to ownership of Tendring District Council and now provide residential accommodation. Angel Gate is well placed for the pier, beaches and other local attractions such as the Electric Palace, pubs and restaurants. Harwich and Dovercourt also have a range of high street shops as well as supermarkets and retail park. Harwich also has rail connections to London (Liverpool Street) via Harwich Town and Dovercourt.
