How to Prepare for Your First Online Auction
The Coronavirus pandemic has meant changes for businesses up and down the country, and that includes us here at Clive Emson Auctioneers.
While we are currently unable to offer our traditional auctions, we’re happy to report that our auctions will still go ahead via the means of an online auction instead. This allows investors and property buyers from across the UK the ability to still secure their next home or investment opportunity, all from the comfort and safety of their own home.
While many of you may be used to the auction process, there may be some of you who have never taken part in an online auction before. We’ve designed our online platform in such a way to make it as simple as possible. However, there are a few things to bear in mind to ensure you’re fully prepared beforehand:
Registering to bid online
The first thing you’ll need to do if you wish to take part in our auctions is to register online.
You will need to complete your registration before you will be able to bid once the auction goes live.
We also recommend you test your internet connection before auction day. We unfortunately can’t pause or halt our auction should your internet fail to work, so make sure you’re in a room with a strong Wi-Fi signal during the auction to avoid any potential issues.
What’s different in an online auction?
Compared to a traditional auction, an online auction naturally takes place entirely online. While we can’t replicate the excitement of live bidding in person at an auction, we have taken the necessary steps to ensure browsing lots and placing bids is as simple and straightforward as possible.
Each month’s lots are available online, with accompanying information and documentation for each property or piece of land up for sale. These lots will be free to browse before the auction actually begins, allowing you to get a good idea of what will be available. For anything you may be interested in, we recommend adding it to your watchlist so you can easily keep track.
Perhaps the biggest difference you’ll find with an online auction compared to a traditional auction is you’ll have a larger amount of time to place your bid. When our online auctions open, you’ll have a couple of days to place your bids before they close. We strongly recommend making note of the opening and closing date of your month’s auction, which you can find on our auction dates page.
Each lot will also have an automatic bid tracker so you can clearly see what the current bid is, as well as when the most recent bid was placed.
