July Auction Highlights 2022

Summer is well and truly here and, with all this hot weather we’ve been having, spirits are up!

To keep the good times rolling, we are pleased to announce that our July auction is full to the brim with quality properties and land just waiting to be bought.  At over 100 lots, this month’s auction includes investments, opportunities for development, land, and even properties for owner-occupation.

As always, we have picked just a handful of our favourite lots to keep an eye out for at the upcoming auction. Read on to find out more!

Two-bedroom shipping container

Starting strong, we have an unusual property made entirely from two shipping containers up for £30,000. This prefabricated building has two bedrooms and is completely movable.

Two grey shipping containers that form a house with wooden windows sit in the shade of a tree.

It is fully fitted and insulated and  — once relocated and settled — would make an excellent holiday home or alternative living accommodation (subject to all necessary consents being obtainable). Lot 10 is comprised of an open-plan kitchen, dining, and living room with two bedrooms that both have an en suite shower and W.C.

Currently, the building is located at Gable Hook Farm in Bethersden. Wherever the building is moved to, it will need to be dismantled and moved in two separate pieces within 30 business days of the auction. Please note: the sale of the building excludes land, foundation, and delivery costs. To find out more about this property, call Chris Milne on 01622 608400.

Detached bungalow in Cornwall

Up next, we have Lot 16, a detached three-bedroom bungalow in Cornwall. Tucked away in the picturesque location of Redruth, this property is only a stone’s throw from the town centre so buyers can enjoy all of the amenities and railway station there.

A green detached bungalow is pictured on a large driveway with flower pots and ornamental paving.

The property itself is well-proportioned and has double-glazed windows and a gas heating system. As an added extra, the roof space could be developed — subject to all necessary consents being obtainable — to make the most of the space. The rest of the property takes the form of an entrance hall, kitchen, living room, shower and W.C, and three separate bedrooms.

There is also a garden with off-road parking as well as a patio, greenhouse, garage, and store outbuilding! What more could you want? For more information about this property, call Dave Henwood or Audrey Smith on 01392 366555. This auction property in Cornwall is up for £150,000 – £170,000.

A collection of buildings and woodland

Looking to escape to your own rural retreat? Then Lot 36 might be just the ticket.

An unusual collection of outbuildings and green spaces, this lot is enticing to say the least. Located in Hollingbourne, near Maidstone, this parcel of land is a rare find. It consists of a collection of redundant and derelict buildings on a plot of land that extends to approximately 1.41 acres (or 0.57 hectares).

As such, if you’re looking to view this lot, you must arrange an appointment, visit during the daytime, and not enter the buildings as this can be dangerous. If you’re interested in this property, you can find out more by calling John Stockey or Jon Rimmer on 01622 608400. This property is up for £100,000 – £110,000.

A Victorian fort with planning for residential conversion

The iconic Fort Gilkicker is up for sale for £1.5m in this month’s auction. Work started on Lot 59 all the way back in 1863, so whoever purchases this building will essentially be buying a piece of history.

The fort itself took over eight years to complete and provided a semi-circular firing arc with 22 gun placements.  These were blocked up and strengthened before WW1. Now, however, an architect has proposed new plans to turn the fort into a residential dwelling which will open it up substantially. Each gun placement will be a three-storey house with stunning views over the Solent. Additionally, there will be 26 other dwellings in the barrack block at the rear of the property.

The current owners have done a lot of legwork when it comes to obtaining necessary consents and have gained permission from all the relevant stakeholders, including:

  • Gosport Borough Council
  • Historic England
  • Natural England
  • Stokes Bay Golf Course and
  • Freehold Titles

For those looking to purchase the fort, there will also be a Project Pack included in the legal documentation available to download here. For more information on Lot 59, call Rob Marchant or Mike Marchant on 01489 564606.
