Half Time

As the longest day looms large and the weather outside finally starts to feel like summer, we have already reached the halfway point in 2021’s auction schedule with four auctions having flown by and a further four to look forward to in the second half of the year.

The pandemic has seen the acceleration of many elements of life towards an online setting, from the increase in home working, the huge growth in online shopping and indeed more pertinently the move towards online auctions! Indeed, our own online auctions continue to go from strength to strength and behind the scenes the team have been working hard to improve the service. With the latest raft of improvements seeing a revamped website, www.cliveemson.co.uk, hopefully improving the service for buyers throughout the process but particularly when it comes to bidding on “auction day”.

Of course, not all these changes to our way of living will be permanent and indeed opinion will continue to be split as to whether the positives outweigh the negatives on a whole manner of such changes. One thing I think we can say for sure is that online sales, in one form or another, will continue to have a far more substantial role to play than ever before.

The market remains positive with a general mood of determination that the wider economy will steadily recover from the unexpected shock.  One can’t help but feel that there may be one or two further twists and turns to come before we return to “normal” however it does feel that generally speaking we are slowly progressing on the right track.

Perhaps a hidden positive of the current travel restrictions, will be a greater appreciation for the country we live in as we all head for “staycations”, be it, Devon and Cornwall, The Lakes, Peak District, Isle of Wight, Norfolk Broads, perhaps getting abroad won’t be the be all and end all in the future….
